Walker Wilcox obtained a victory in the Illinois Appellate Court today. Neil Holmen and Alla Cherkassky Galati, who previously obtained a dismissal of their client for lack of personal jurisdiction, also briefed and argued the subsequent appeal. Holmen argued before the Appellate Court on October 17, 2019. The Illinois Appellate Court affirmed the circuit court’s order dismissing Walker Wilcox’s client for lack of personal jurisdiction where they did not have the requisite minimum contacts with Illinois to satisfy due process concerns. The Court also vacated the circuit court’s evidence preservation order against one of the defendants because the court did not have jurisdiction over that defendant. Baldomero v. Lewis, No. 1-15-1642, 2019 IL App (1st) 181642-U (Ill. App. Ct. Oct. 31, 2019).
