WWM Instrumental in Raising of $1.55 Million for Legal Services for Chicago’s Poor

Walker Wilcox Matousek LLP is honored to have again participated in the 6th annual Chicago Bar Foundation Investing in Justice Campaign.  WWM Founding Partner and Campaign Vice-Chair Mark Wilcox beamed “I am proud to have served on this year’s Leadership Team and I’m inspired by the generosity of my colleagues here who stepped up to make a difference for people they don’t know, and likely will never meet, simply because they saw a need and wanted to help.”

The Investing in Justice Campaign is a special initiative each Spring where law firms, corporate legal departments and other companies and organizations from throughout Chicago’s legal community join forces to help ensure that people in need in the Chicago area have equal access to justice.  Every dollar raised during the Campaign will fund CBF grants that support a comprehensive range of legal services to many thousands of people in need, including the elderly, the disabled, veterans, children, domestic violence victims and people at risk of losing their homes.

Along with the attorneys and staff at Walker Wilcox Matousek LLP, a record number of more than 3,600 individuals made personal contributions during this year’s Campaign for a new record total of more than $1.55 million. At a time when more than half of low-income and disadvantaged Chicagoans who seek legal assistance (which is often critical to their safety and independence) are turned away and left to solve complex legal problems on their own, Chicago’s legal community really came together and answered the call.  Together, we are making our community a fairer and better place for everyone.

In just six years, the CBF Investing in Justice Campaign has raised over $6.75 million to support the work of our community’s pro bono and legal aid organizations and their dedicated attorneys. “Thanks to the inspiring leadership of all of our Campaign Chairs, the many dedicated people who have served on the Campaign Leadership Team, and the thousands of lawyers and other legal professionals who have made generous personal donations, we are making a real difference for people who have nowhere else to turn for help,” said Bob Glaves, CBF Executive Director.
