Overview

Mike Mintzer specializes in defending clients in complex commercial litigation and tort matters. Mike has successfully defended international air carriers, airport operators, aircraft owners, repair facilities, product manufacturers, transportation companies, trucking companies, municipalities, and their insurers in personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, product liability, chemical drift, and catastrophic aviation matters.

Mike has substantial experience in all phases of trial litigation including motion practice, discovery, depositions, oral arguments and successfully trying jury and bench trials.

Additionally, Mike’s practice also involves providing insurance coverage advice and representation for domestic and international insurers.

Although he primarily handles matters within state and federal courts in Illinois, Mike’s practice is truly nationwide, as he has personally handled cases in jurisdictions throughout the United States.

Mike joined Walker Wilcox after working for two prominent civil litigation firms where he handled a variety of complex commercial litigation, transportation, trucking, motor vehicle and aviation matters. During this time, Mike handled several jury trials and argued numerous motions on behalf of corporate entities and individuals in state and federal court while consistently obtaining favorable results on behalf of his clients. Mike has also handled cases before the Illinois First and Second District Courts of Appeals, as well as the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mike earned his law degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and graduated from the University of Miami in three years with a double major in Finance and in Political Science. During law school, Mike worked for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Responsibility where he was responsible for negotiating settlements on behalf of the State of Illinois and advising the Department in matter involving Credit Unions, Money Transmitters and Payday Lenders. Mike also worked for the Chicago-Kent Tax Clinic while in law school where he advised and represented underprivileged individuals in various tax disputes.
