Carmelina joined Walker Wilcox Matousek as Of Counsel in 2024. Since becoming an attorney, Carmelina has practiced as coverage counsel, advising and assisting insurance companies with respect to coverage issues involving all aspects of general claims handling and resolution. She has represented insurers in complex insurance coverage matters throughout the United States involving commercial general liability, professional liability, abuse liability, business automobile liability, directors and officers liability, and liquor liability. Carmelina’s experience includes the investigation and analysis of defense and indemnity obligations under primary and excess policies, priority of coverage, and transfer of risk. 

 

Carmelina earned her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 2017. During law school, she was a student clinician with the Children and Youth Law clinic where she represented children in juvenile court, as well as the Environmental Litigation Clinic (Civil Rights Project). She also was a member of University of Miami Race & Social Justice Law Review, Bar and Gavel, and the Public Interest Leadership Board; was a HOPE Fellow and Miami Street Law Fellow; and completed the HOPE Pro Bono Challenge.
