Abby’s practice focuses on advising and representing primary and excess insurance carriers in complex coverage matters and disputes involving a broad range of product lines, with a particular focus on management liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, and network and privacy liability. She also has significant experience with commercial general liability and crime coverage. Abby regularly counsels insurers on claims arising from securities class actions, shareholder derivative actions, regulatory investigations and proceedings, employment-related litigation, and other complex commercial disputes.
Abby works closely with her clients throughout the life of a claim, from initial coverage analysis through resolution of complex coverage disputes. In addition to evaluating coverage, she advises insurers on claim strategy, policy interpretation, allocation, independent counsel issues, and other issues that arise in the handling of complex and high-exposure matters.
Beyond her claims practice, Abby advises insurers on underwriting, policy drafting, and new product development and regularly provides in-house seminars on emerging legal and coverage issues affecting the insurance industry. She has presented to numerous insurers on developments under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and the evolving BIPA coverage landscape. Abby also co-authored “Professional Liability Claims-Made Issues” in Commercial and Professional Liability Insurance (Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, 2023).
Abby’s work has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for Insurance Law and by Super Lawyers, which selected her to its Rising Stars list. In 2024, Chicago Lawyer named Abby one of its 40 Under Forty Illinois Attorneys to Watch, recognizing her work in the insurance coverage field.
