Celeste King’s practice focuses on the insurance and reinsurance aspects of privacy and data security including data breaches, regulations and emerging issues such as ransomware, internet of things and big data. With substantial experience in complex insurance and reinsurance coverage, Celeste’s representation ranges from coverage opinions to handling contested matters in litigation and arbitration. Celeste helps clients draft and interpret insurance policies and trends, particularly important in an area where technology outpaces the law, analyzes underwriting guidelines, negotiates settlements, drafts non-disclosure agreements and works with breach response plans. She works extensively with first and third party coverages, “cyber” policies, CGL and E&O coverages.
Celeste handles privacy matters involving both small businesses and multi-national companies across a wide-range of claims such as health care, financial institutions, municipalities, communication companies, investment houses, professions, municipalities and retail. Her clients include some of the most sophisticated insurers and reinsurers in the U.S. and abroad. Celeste is a regular contributor to the firm’s privacy insurance blog, published author and frequent presenter to insurers, reinsurers and organizations.
In addition to privacy and security insurance, Celeste has substantial experience in reinsurance including treaty and facultative, quota share, excess of loss, retrocessional and clash covers. Celeste counsels insurers and reinsurers on insolvencies, extra-contractual obligations, letters of credit, wordings interpretations, bad faith claims and “follow the fortunes” disputes. She assists reinsurers in developing claims handling guidelines and best business practices for handling coverage disputes.
